How can I apply dedication to my Life?

Dedication pt.2

In this post, we’ll go over how any individual can dedicate himself and adopt a new lifestyle. Start a project, stick to it and see the end results. I want to better myself, but how can use my motivation on the long term?

How do I apply dedication to my Life?

As we have seen in the last post, dedication is the first thing you need to get going and be sure to never let go. Once you have acknowledged and integrated it, you can then apply it in your daily life.

Use dedication as the basis of your lifestyle. This will be today’s theme.

Dedication is something that can be used and visible in many ways. You can apply it to a project, physical exercise, your studies, etc.

Getting up in the morning to go to university or work is a common example, obliging yourself to get up to. You don’t ultimately have to, but you do it to maintain a certain life hygiene.

Even though every dedication is different, as they are not for the same reason and they have different purposes, they all are dedications, proving that if you can dedicate yourself to one task, you can do it to another.

Dedication pt.2

Start off little to go big

What we advise you is to start off little to after go bigger if you desire to.
For that, you need to set yourself objectives, like going running twice a week, or cleaning your house once every one or two weeks for example.

You need something simple to start, something you are already familiar with.

We don’t recommend you to start off with a massive goal, you want to be able to accomplish it, but if you decide to anyway or don’t really have the choice, try to decompose the job as much possible, by creating a routine you can then apply to your lifestyle.

For example, if your goal has a one-month length, buy a notebook, a watch and plan your schedule. Write down what has to be done, define how you can decompose it, what will be done each week and eventually, each day.

Therefore, you’ll have a better insight on your work, you won’t feel as overcharged and it will feel much easier to you. A good book to read on how to focus on a task is Deep Work.

You now have all you need to get started!

Bonus

Let’s get back to the simple goals that will build your self-confidence.

There are loads of different subjects you can invest yourself into. Whether it be work, family-related, sport, etc., they will all help build the trust you need to undertake bigger projects.

TODOIST AFFILIATE

Try to set yourself precise goals. It’s okay to think large at the beginning as long as you define actual numbers.

For example, if your first goal is to be healthier, set objectives like making a healthy meal twice a week, or working out every two days.

If you directly want to start a big project, decompose it as much as possible.

For example, if you want to learn a new language in a year, define what you’ll learn each month, what you’ll work on: verbs, pronouns, adjectives, etc. and what you’ll be learning each week.

FITBIT AFFILIATE + NOTEBOOK notebook

That way, you’ll have a better idea of you’re doing, what has been done, what you’re missing and how you’ll improve in the near future.

And this leads us to the next post: Continuous Goals

See you next week!
